Kudzu is known as the “invasive vine that ate the south” because it smothers trees and plants and can grow a foot in a day! Your park needs your help\, I hope you can join us!\n \nWhat: Help save our community’s beautiful trees and wildlife by removing kudzu\, english ivy\, and other invasive exotic vines that are killing trees at Battery Kemble Park.\n\n\n\nWhere: Meet at the entrance to Battery Kemble Park on MacArthur Boulevard.\nWho: Anyone interested in protecting our local parkland\, which is managed under Rock Creek Park\, the third oldest park in the National Park System.\n\nWhy: Much of the park is overrun by english ivy and other invasive non-native plants\, which have little to no value for local wildlife\, kill trees\, and diminish biodiversity. Plus\, it feels good to help the environment and beautify our community!\n\nHow: Gloves and tools will be provided by the National Park Service\, but you can also bring your own. Please remember to bring drinking water and sun block\, and be sure to dress appropriately: long sleeves and long pants to protect from sun and poison ivy\, closed-toe shoes.
