Part of the Piney Branch Oasis has a really steep slope adjacent to an alley off 18th St on the west side of Bancroft Elementary, and it needs renewed attention from Weed Warriors. The slope is steep enough that ropes would be helpful to descend the slope. In addition there are native plantings along the edge of the alley to protect with cage cleanings and resettings.
Since the slope is steep and there are natives mixed with the invasives, we want permitted Weed Warriors only to join in this event. If you are up for some challenging work, please join us. If you have climbing ropes that you can bring, so much the better. We will need to work on the usual suspects of porcelain berry, oriental bittersweet and english ivy, along with ailanthus trees, rose of sharon, and a few others. We will plant Virginia creeper on bare spots when we finish.
If there has been a lot of rain we will have to reschedule as the slope gets really slippery, so please
sign up ahead so we can notify you!
